Questions parents ask us
Straight answers about the free quiz, the ₹999 report, how the seven patterns work, privacy and refunds. If your question is not here, email us and we will add it.
What is DharmaCode?
DharmaCode is a career and stream guide for families with a child in Class 9 to 12, rooted in the Bhagavad Gita's idea of swadharma: each person does their best work on a path that fits their own nature.
You start with a free 10-question quiz. If you want the full picture, a parent answers a 20 to 30 minute parent questionnaire for the Full Report (₹999) and receives a written report with ten ranked careers, Indian colleges, a subject and stream strategy, a 3-month plan and a parenting playbook.
Is DharmaCode a Hindu product?
Yes, proudly. DharmaCode is rooted in Sanatana Dharma: the Bhagavad Gita's teaching of swadharma, and figures such as Vishwakarma, Saraswati and Krishna, whose names we give to the seven patterns.
The questions themselves are about everyday behaviour, and any family who finds the framework useful is welcome to use it.
How does DharmaCode work out my child's pattern?
It adds up your answers across seven patterns: Builder, Healer, Storyteller, Strategist, Performer, Trader and Guardian. Choosing one option gives that pattern two points, choosing two options gives each one point, and saying what your child avoids takes a point away.
The two patterns with the most points become the main pattern and the one that is also strong. We describe how clearly one leads in words (strong, clear or mixed), never as a percentage. Anything you type in your own words is not scored; it goes straight to the report writer.
You also rate your child on 20 short personality statements and 24 work activities, and your child can add their own answers. A fixed table, not AI, turns those scores into the same seven patterns. When your child takes part, the Parent & child tab also shows a blended pattern where your view and theirs count half each; the written report follows your answers.
Is this a psychological or psychometric test?
Partly. The 30 everyday questions are our own behavioural questionnaire, and the seven patterns are our own modern framework, inspired by the Gita's idea of swadharma. Neither is a validated or clinical test.
The report also includes two published profiles: a Big Five personality profile from the Mini-IPIP (20 statements from the public-domain International Personality Item Pool), and a RIASEC interest profile. You answer 24 public-domain IPIP work activities (from the Oregon Vocational Interest Scales) about your child; if your child takes part, they answer the O*NET® Interest Profiler about themselves. The two use different questions, so the report shows them side by side rather than averaging them. These are not yet normed on Indian students, so we show plain scores with low, average and high bands, never percentiles, and we credit both sources in the report.
Treat the report as a structured, well-informed conversation starter. Use it alongside your child's own views and advice from their school.
Is this based on astrology?
No. Nothing in DharmaCode uses birth dates, star signs, planetary positions or any astrological data. The output is a career and stream plan built from your answers, not a horoscope.
Which class is DharmaCode for?
The Full Report (₹999) is built for children in Class 9 to 12. Class 9 and 10 are when stream and subject choices take shape; in Class 11 and 12 the report helps with entrance exams, college and course choices.
The free quiz works at any age and is a gentle way to start the conversation.
Who answers the questions, the parent or the child?
A parent or legal guardian answers them. You describe what your child actually does, which often shows more than what a teenager says about themselves on one day.
After paying, you can also send your child a private link to answer about themselves (about 10 minutes, with your consent). The report then shows your view and your child's view side by side. This is optional and never delays your report: your report is ready straight away, the link works for 7 days, and when your child finishes we add the comparison to the same report and email you.
Before you start, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and that you consent to us processing your answers about your child to write the report.
What does the Full Report (₹999) include?
The report covers your child's main and secondary pattern, ten ranked careers with Indian colleges and a first step for this year, paths likely to frustrate them, a subject and stream strategy for their class, a 3-month plan, a parenting playbook, warning signs to watch for and hand-picked resources.
It also includes a Big Five personality profile, a RIASEC interest profile from your answers and, if your child answers too, their own RIASEC profile, a parent view and child view comparison with questions to talk through, and a one-page summary you can give a school counsellor.
You can read a full sample report for a fictional student before you buy.
How long does it take, and when do I get the report?
The 30 questions, 20 short personality statements and 24 work activities take about 20 to 30 minutes, and you can add your own words to any answer. The report is usually ready within minutes of payment; it opens on screen and we email you the link.
Your progress is saved on the same device, so you can stop and come back.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
The free quiz costs nothing and needs no card. The Full Report is a one-time ₹999, paid by UPI or card through Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. There is no subscription.
What is your refund policy?
We refund you if a technical fault on our side stops the report, if it is not delivered within 24 hours, or if you were charged twice. A delivered report cannot be refunded, but if something in it is clearly wrong, email hello@dharmacode.net and we will correct it free.
Because you can read the full sample report first, you know exactly what you are buying. Full details are on the refund policy page.
How is AI used in the report?
All scores, patterns and comparisons are worked out by fixed rules, not AI. The written parts of the report are then produced by AI in one step, using only those results, the words you (and your child, if they took part) typed, and our own guidance notes for each pattern. Any quote in the report comes from your own words, never invented.
College names, pay and job trends are general guidance, so please check current details before deciding.
What happens to my child's data?
Your answers, and your child's own answers if they take part, are used only to write and deliver your child's report. We do not sell your data. Your answers and report are stored in India, and some of the services that help us deliver it may process data in other countries.
We keep your child's details, your answers and the report for 12 months, then delete them automatically. You can ask us to delete them at any time by emailing hello@dharmacode.net. The privacy policy explains your rights.
Does DharmaCode promise a particular career or result?
No. The careers are directions to explore, ranked by fit with what you told us, not a prediction or a guarantee. Children grow, so look at the report again in a year.
What are the Dharma Code Field Manuals?
They are short, practical guides for working life that turn the Bhagavad Gita, the Arthashastra and other classics into daily routines, scripts and worksheets. There are six volumes, and you can read a free 2-page sample of each.
What are DharmaCode Agents?
DharmaCode Agents (coming soon) is a planned set of AI study companions that answer only from public-domain English translations of Hindu texts, show the passage they relied on, and say so when the text does not address a question. It is not live yet; you can join the waitlist.
