Chanakya
The Strategist
Sees three moves ahead and plays the long game.
Sanskrit Origin
Chanakya: the master strategist who, without ever holding a throne, mentored Chandragupta Maurya into building the Mauryan empire. His Arthashastra is one of the earliest treatises on statecraft, economics, intelligence and the long game.
The Ancient Role
Chanakya represents the principle that intellect, patience and the ability to see three moves ahead are themselves a form of power, often greater than the throne itself. The Strategist is the unseen architect of outcomes.
The Modern Mind · AI-Resilient
The Strategist asks 'and then what?' before everyone else. They are comfortable with ambiguity, with incomplete data, and with decisions that pay off years later. As tactical work becomes increasingly automatable, strategy (the human capacity to choose which problems are worth solving) becomes the highest-leverage skill in the economy.
Judgement on messy, high-stakes decisions
